Our Commitment to Students

At Calrossy Anglican School - William Cowper campus, caring for our students is given a high priority.  We want each student to feel they are valued as a member of our community.  A focus on caring relationships is consistent with Biblical principles of how God would have us act toward one another.  The wellbeing of students, their families, staff and others within our community is regarded as paramount.  It is also a significant factor influencing student performance.  The aim of our welfare structure is to create a system that is accessible and supportive for all stakeholders in our school community.

Much of the pastoral care is delivered through the rapport that exists in the classroom, and in activities shared between teachers and students.  In addition, for staff, pastoral care means showing a willingness to be an adult on whom students may depend for support - someone who will listen, advise, encourage and help. The School Counsellor is also available to support and talk with students who are experiencing difficulties of any kind.

The School Chaplain works within the whole school community, offering support and advice, and fostering Christian values in the school.  Calrossy Anglican School is a school founded on the Christian faith, and in our teaching and approach we seek to communicate a sound belief system and encourage students to a deeper understanding of the value of developing a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

Students are also encouraged to support one another and to demonstrate a caring, responsible and supportive attitude towards others.  Students are able to contribute through the Student Representative Council, where they raise issues and seek solutions that improve student welfare within the school.

Underpinning these structures, the Director of Curriculum is responsible for ensuring that interesting and challenging learning experiences are provided for all students, so that effective learning can occur, while the Head of Campus provides leadership, direction and advice to staff and students in all these areas.
