Facilities
We are very proud of our award winning 'state of the art' Primary Homesteads. Each homestead has been designed to cater for a particular Stage of Primary education and houses 4 classrooms, a stage-appropriate library and computer laboratory, staff room, storeroom and toilet facilities. All rooms have reverse cycle heating and cooling, making them comfortable throughout the year. They all have access to the computer network and Internet.
Sporting facilities include an oval, basketball, netball and tennis courts, cricket nets, wet weather area (and hockey training facility) and long jump pit, together with a cross-country course that takes in much of our 27-acre site. The shaded play equipment and sand pit provide a safe and exciting area for the children to explore and develop fitness and coordination skills.
Who was William Cowper?
William Macquarie Cowper was the first Australian-born man to be ordained as an Anglican clergyman. He was a godson of governor Lachlan Macquarie.
From 1836 until 1848, while serving as Chaplain to the Australian Agricultural Company at Port Stephens, he became the first Anglican clergyman to minister in Tamworth, making regular annual horseback trips to the area to conduct church services, baptisms and marriages.
On his return to Sydney, he played a prominent role in the church and was very closely involved in the management of Church School education. He was the Dean of Sydney from 1858 until his death in 1902.
